While most SDV testing occurs in clear conditions, this incident underscores the difficulty of programming for environmental "edge cases" that humans handle with relative ease.

This recall is particularly sensitive as the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recently increased pressure on AV developers.
